As inspired by Real Seeds, seed circles are small groups of 5-10 growers who each take on stewardship of a certain type of seed, committing to cultivating and sharing it with the rest of the group. This process continues year on year, with the group sharing the seed more widely as they wish. They might also choose to come together socially and to learn about wider seed and food sovereignty related issues.
We started a seed circle with some friends in 2020 and have swapped the seeds we saved from food we grew during the growing season. Some things worked out as we hoped and others didn’t, but it’s all part of the learning process!
