Our Story

In April 2021 the Edinburgh Seed Network established it’s first seed library project at the Salisbury Centre in Newington. In addition to the physical seed library to store and share open-pollinated seeds with the community, the project also runs practical seedsaving workshops and hosts community events to creatively explore the horticultural, environmental, personal, social and political aspects of seeds and seed-saving.
Over the past year the Salisbury Centre Seed Library has grown into a (bio)diverse community hub for sharing skills, ideas and information about food growing, seedsaving and community resilience, as well as the seeds themselves.

” I’ve learned a lot about seed saving and have deepened my respect for the plant world in general and the amazing world of seeds especially.”
